Direct and Reported Speech

(El estilo directo e indirecto)

6.1. Direct and Reported Speech
If we want to explain what another person said we use Reported speech. For example, if Jim says: "I am so happy" the reported speech is: "Jim said that he was so happy".
6.2. Say vs. Tell
"He SAID hello and then he TOLD me his name". The verbs "say" and "tell" are very common but there are differences in their use.
