Learn Courses Advanced level Linking words
8.1. Adding Information
"She works a lot. She is a waitress, a receptionist AND she babysits at the weekend TOO". Here the connectors "and" and "too" help connect and add information.
8.2. Contrasting Information
"He is an intelligent boy, however he doesn't spend enough time studying so he gets bad grades". "However" is the connector here used to contrast two different ideas in a sentence.
8.3. Giving Reason
"He spent the summer in England because he wanted to learn English". When we want to explain the reason for something we use connectors like "because", "so", "since". "as" y "therefore".
8.4. Sequencing and Summarizing
"It's important to speak English. FIRSTLY, it will help you find a job. SECONDLY, you can communicate when you travel. And LASTLY, you will make new friends". These words are used to sequence ideas.
